Abortion Isn’t Murder — Stop Saying That It Is
And the things pro-life people should be fighting for
If you’ve looked at the news recently, it would appear that the political sphere is once again divided into two different Overton windows.
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the public is split into two vastly different factions.
On the one hand, we have the ‘Pro-Life’ crowd who believe that “abortion is murder” standing firmly against the idea of abortion, with politicians proposing that the act of abortion should be a criminal act for both doctors and the pregnant women seeking abortion (look at the Louisiana abortion bills). In fact, in Texas, Bill HB 3326 goes further than making abortion a criminal act.
Under this bill, abortion at fertilization is banned and any person who has (or performs) an abortion can be charged with assault and homicide. It is extremely important to note that homicide is a charge that can carry capital punishment.
On the other hand, we have the ‘Pro-Choice’ crowd who believes that the choice to abort a baby lies in the hands of the mother. Even if the act of abortion is in contradiction with say, their religious or moral views, these people believe that the choice should remain with the individual women (instead of up to the state).
