For many, go-karting is a go-to vacation activity. It allows families to enjoy the adrenaline of speeding down the track, sparks the competitiveness between them as they race towards the finish lines, and in many places, even allows young children from the age of 4 to partake in races (of course, with various safety measures in place beforehand). Of course, like all other activities, there are various pros and cons when one takes part in activities like this. In order to ensure the best experience, FerKart, a company based in Connecticut aims to provide go-karts that solve some of the most common worries people have, allowing for an even better overall go-karting experience.

One of the steps taken by them is the decision to provide only electric go-karts. Apart from completely eliminating the nasty smell that comes with gasoline go-karts, It reduces the worries of people with respiratory issues and allows everyone to take part in the activity. Furthermore, for those who are more eco-conscious, this step will reduce the amount of greenhouse emissions. This is especially important as motorsports typically produce a lot of pollutants. While opponents might argue that gasoline powered go-karts can go faster and have better ‘feel’ or acceleration, the MythBusters have disproved this myth and showed that electric go-karts can perform just as well, generating a fraction of pollution with no sacrifice to performance. In fact, the only difference is the quietness of electric go-karts, further helping reduce noise pollution (really helpful in indoor racing tracks).

Another difference FerKart has is their commitment towards inclusiveness. While most places are unable to accommodate customers with mobility issues, FerKart’s go-karts provide drivers with the ability to control the speed on the steering wheel itself, allowing people who are unable to step on accelerators the chance to take part in the go-karting experience.

For children and first-timers who are afraid that they’ll lose control, FerKart offers the function to remotely control the speeds of their go-karts. This significantly lowers the chances of major collisions and helps prevent go-karts from speeding out of control. While electric go-karts are heavier than gasoline powered ones, FerKart offers lighter go-karts compared to main competitors. The lighter electric go-karts would allow collisions to have lesser impact, causing less damage and possible injury if accidents do occur.

Apart from that, FerKart tries to accommodate professionals as well. With an inbuilt LCD screen that displays specific information such as lap speeds and velocity, these go-karts serve to help more-advanced drivers improve and become better. A fitted F1 steering wheel and 4-point seat belt helps to further enhance the experience of ‘going pro’.

Even people who want to experience the thrill of going fast without driving will be able to. With their double-seated go-karts, friends and family can simply hop on and experience the adrenaline rush without having to drive themselves.

For a sport that has been around since the 1950s, it’s time for the industry to make big strides towards improvements to provide for a better overall experience. As such, the steps FerKart has taken towards allowing people the freedom to experience go-karting despite their background is something that sets them apart in the crowded go-kart industry.
